Boy’s Basketball has a record of 5-0 and plays against the Bulldogs in Crown Point today at 7 p.m. “Right now we are working on one game after another,” Moreno said. “(Winning) sectionals would be a huge achievement for our team since we are considered little.”

Bright and early, members of the Boys’ Basketball team gather in the weight room to lift in preparation for their upcoming tournament Dec. 28. Held annually over winter break, the Highland Holiday Hoopfest will consist of eight teams. The boys have won the past three years, and they are hoping to keep this position.

“I think the team is getting a good feel of what works for us. We know who works with each other best and we’re building off of that,” Jermaine Coney, sophomore, said. “We all get along great and I think when we get everything figured out (what they want to improve on for the tournament), we’ll be a great team.”

After winning the first five games of the season, the team knew what they needed to work on at practice. The team has been conditioning, implementing new offensive and defensive plays and practicing defensive drills. Not only have they been giving it their all at practice, but they also work out on their own time.
