Claire Nowak is crowned Homecoming Queen
During halftime of tonight’s Homecoming game against Andrean, Claire Nowak, senior, was crowned homecoming queen. She was escorted by Blake Marcotte, senior.
“It just doesn’t feel real,” Claire said. ”Before winning, I actually wasn’t that nervous. I was like ‘I’m gonna lose, it’s not going to be that big of a deal. I’ll lose, somebody else will win, we’ll take pictures and then we will all go home.’ But then I won and I was like what the heck. It was so exciting though.”
Claire is in Student Government, CEC, Project X, African American Culture Club, Spanish club, and Civics club. Claire accompanied seven other queens that were nominated to be on the Homecoming court. The other nominees were Becky Jones, Uyai Edet, Salma Prince, Taylor Graham, Megan Flynn, Emma Phillips, and Clara Zuniga.
“I just wanted to thank everybody for this fantastic opportunity,” Claire said. “I know it sounds so cheesy, but it actually means the world that I left such a good impression on other people. I try to be kind and inclusive to everybody I meet no matter who you are or where you come from. This is going to carry with me into my adulthood to know that being kind really goes a long way.”
