After being named a finalist in January, Crier was awarded a Gold Crown award in Columbia Scholastic Press Association’s 2022 Crown Awards, marking the first time since 1996 that Crier has been awarded a Gold Crown. Crier is one of 10 publications awarded in the print news category based on design, photography, concept, coverage and writing. Out of a total of 817 eligible publications in the nation, CSPA recognized Crier as one of the top 10 print newspapers.

“I was just like jumping up and down like really excited because it was just so unexpected. But I was so joyous that the super hard work the staff put in was recognized as top 10 in the nation,” Ms. Sarah-Anne Lanman, publications adviser, said.
