Edward, who can seem kind of stand-offish at first, grows to be sweet and thoughtful as he only wants what is best for Bella. Jacob can be rude and a little cold with Bella as she falls for Edward, but even with the rivalry, his friendship with Bella makes him loyal and protective; he will do whatever it takes to keep her alive. Bella is needy and she wants to be like Edward even though she knows that the life of a vampire is dangerous and has its own consequences. She can make the wrong decisions about her love as she wants to keep her relationship with both boys.

The plot is easy to follow with a timeline that can be easily pieced together while still including a major time skip and plot-twists.
